Arranging Domestic Air Travel
in Thailand

The primary domestic air carrier is Thai Airways. The current flight schedule can be reviewed at http://www.thaiair.com/.  Bangkok Airways (www.bangkokair.com) and a few other small carriers offer additional options for air travel in and around Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Flight information and reservations may be arranged through the U.S. Embassy branch of American Express (AMEX). AMEX is located on the third floor of the American Embassy (New Embassy Building). Their business hours are 0700 to 1600 Monday through Friday.  The AMEX office closes for US and Thai holidays.  The contact telephone numbers for AMEX are Phone 02-205-4789/4189/4517; Fax 02-255-0825. An AMEX representative can be contacted at 02-273-0022 for after hour’s emergencies – this is not to arrange routine travel (state you are calling concerning “official government air travel”).

Recognize that AMEX is not a Department of Defense contracted travel agent.  They do not accept TDY orders (DD 1610) as payment for air travel flight coupons.  You should consider AMEX a private contractor operating in the US Embassy.  You will need to use your Government Travel Card or other form of payment to pay for any air tickets they issue you.  JUSMAG cannot assist in billing of air tickets to DD 1610 either so plan accordingly if you come to Thailand knowing you will need to arrange domestic air travel.
