What is JUSMAGTHAI?

JUSMAGTHAI is the U.S. Security Cooperation Office (SCO) in Thailand. The Chief of JUSMAGTHAI is also the Senior Defense Official (SDO). In addition to its military chain of command at United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) in Hawaii, JUSMAGTHAI is also directly responsible to the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand. Unlike most SCOs, JUSMAGTHAI has primary responsibility, or otherwise directly supports, a wide variety of missions. These include a robust Joint & Combined Exercise Program (averaging over 85 exercises per year training over 10,000 US service-members), International Military Education and Training (IMET), Foreign Military Sales, Humanitarian De-mining, and Military Medicine exchanges.

JUSMAGTHAI is not physically located in the US Embassy. We are located in a Royal Thai Armed Forces facility located approximately two kilometers from the U.S. Embassy, on South Sathorn Road. To get to JUSMAGTHAI from the U.S. Embassy, proceed south on Wireless Road, passing Lumpini Park on your right, to the stop light/intersection of Wireless Road, Sathorn Road, and Rama IV Road at the Thai-Belgian Bridge. Then, proceed under the bridge a short distance, past a small side street on your left, and stop on the left side of the street at the large black metal gate to the JUSMAGTHAI compound. You will need a U.S. government ID to enter the compound.
